The Project
The significance of Universal Design for Learning is growing rapidly in the context of postsecondary education and pedagogy. In order to create a more inclusive learning environment for the diverse student populations in their respective settings, five post-secondary institutions in Montreal came together to respond to the growing rise in learner variability through the implementation of a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework.
The allUDL website is the end result of a 3 year “Projet - Interordre” funded by the Quebec Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur. This project is a collaborative venture led by McGill University, in partnership with Centennial College, Dawson College, John Abbott College and Marianopolis College and the Research Centre for the Educational and Professional Inclusion of students with Disabilities (CRISPESH).
Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 77 faculty members and course instructors across the five institutions in order to identify the key facilitators and stressors that support or hinder the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in their pedagogical practices.
The allUDL website aims to respond to the needs of faculty members and course instructors by providing resources targeted towards the implementation of Universal Design for Learning in a post-secondary context.
